Completely different attitude at indoor football this week, we lost 10 -8 but we were so close to winning. The talking, positive play and chasing chances was beautiful, in the dying seconds i landed on my bandaged wound from last week but i can shed blood for such a passionate game, cant wait til next week! My wife scored her first goal, a nutmeg too, wow! and i finally opened my account with 2 or 3 as well...taking out the little kid that had all the flashy moves was an accident but hayden wanted an encore lol
Shot the last phone scene today, its hard to find my house empty with so many people but between random conversations i got the footage of me talking to imaginary people - hey, all actors are really professional pretenders after all right? , does no one remember playing in a school playground playing tag trying to stay off the bark cos it was lava? good days brother, good days..
Watched more of outrageous fortune, did i say yesterday that they are making a US adaption of this show? my memories so bad these days, my old friend is asking me when im going to take him out for the round of beers ive promised him, its been months since i dated alcohol, im like a sober cheerleader or sumthing, wont sumbody hand me a damned johnny walker?
Anyway, shooting fan scene tommorrow and apartment shots, shoots almost finished, then add the score and sfx and print to DVD and presto! DVD released in April 2010 :)
so yeah cats Thnx for reading, you wont be forgotten :P
I am not mega-polar. Though i want to be a Rapper/ Music Mogul, Director/Actor, and an artist or star salesman, I am just a young guy looking for success in whatever pool needs a shark, though i have a blog dedicated to each endeavor, this one is about my life in genral, more of a diary rather than a tell all expose :)

Tuesday March 23 2010 -Wise words
Back when i was younger, yes i feel old and i'm only 23, but thats 23 years spent wondering what to do next!, anyway as i was saying, when i was younger i wanted to be a mage. I know, i know, what the hell? But we had a border (one of many) stay with us and he was from brazil and believe it or not he taught me most of what i know about real magick and all that and he wanted to be a mage too. He's a lawyer now last i heard and im trying to be a director/actor/rapper -whatever comes first :P but anyway long story short i wanted to start todays blog with a small story and what ive just said explains why i get into this new age stuff and lap it up, the karate side of my life rekindled that, anyway...
a young monk was annoyed the elder, wiser monk always seemed to have an answer for everything so, as too embarass him he asked the elder monk, "Monk, tell me in 4 words or less, what is the meaning of life?"
The elder monk, stroked his long wispy beard and looked far away, the younger monk started to smile knowing for once that he had stumped the old man. But then the old man turned and smiled and said "This too, shall pass".
I read the news today that some schoolgirl murderer locked up in the UK was killed by fellow inmates, i recently finished reading a book on sacha baron cohens life that came out after Borats success and read today hes finally married, and Bodyguard and Assasins comes out on dvd here in NZ next week. Its March 2010 and i can still remember sitting up with my family on new years eve 1999 when the world was struck with Y2k fever freaking out cos the night before i had a dream that a volcano erupted in my back yard (behind my house was farmland then, now its being developed into a new suburb) and the fact is through all of this stuff happening I'm actually scared. no ones scared of death, just what comes after. Fear of the unkown i suppose but i'm really freaking out. I could get successful in my quest for fame etc, have kids with my wife and raise a smart family i can be proud of and then grow old together but what comes next? i swear we have entertainment and all these things to distract us from the one truth which is finding ourselves and our meaning of our existance. or perhaps their is no meaning and its all down to luck.
Anyway hypochondria aside, the last few dyas have been busy thats why im making a big ass blog to fill everyone in (who reads this).
Friday shot the training montage and the running scenes, one of the scenes involved me jumping over my wife who had the camera, if that isnt a test of faith i dont know what is (for those wondering, no, i didnt put blood everywher - i enjoed long jump as a young un you know). Was going to shot the obsessed fan scene too but a council truck turned up. (of all the days) that ok we were going to continue then another one turned up (ones a stranger, two's a crowd) so yeah left and did the running bits, but yay they were putting the hoop back up, so now maybe i can do GAMBLERS 2 cos there was no hoop in the first (thus, teaching me a valuable lesson about scouting shooting locations closer in future) for those who havent see the first (and my first crack at making films) check my site at www.youtube.com/themattkinsman as in, theres some other dude with my name in alska or someplace. nonplussed, im in nz so dont mind if i end up like the L&P fizzy drink ad says, "world famous in Newzealand" which is good enough for me...
Saturday shot half the finale scene at memorial park (i just called it that, i dont know its real name) with Hayden and Damo and Wifey on the cam, only half cos the fight scenes were too slow to film but i wanted them right, still not happy with final shoot but Credibility! is a test film after all to a)show my talents (writing/directing/acting/martial arts) and b)to test holding an audinece for a certain period of time.
If this film works out i hope to pitch a project and shoot a feature length or another short feature with better equipment and story (as i hav made this one up as i want along, just by answering questions filling plot holes)
Also a jogger jogged past, stopped and said to us, in basically the same following transcript;
Stranger: you making a film?
Matt: uh...yeah
Stranger: what for?
Matt: fun, really.
Stranger: is it going youtube?
Matt: probably.
Stranger: Ok bye...goodluck.
Matt: ok
Matt (turns to cast and crew) what the **** was that?
come to think of it i should have given him the site, word travels, i really think he might have been waiting for me to ask him to be a part of it or the upcoming 48hour film festival but who knows, joggers in parks have mysterious intentions - the most common bveing ruining my shots..
Annnnnnnnd Sunday was spent basically chilling finishing the sasha book i was telling about, Monday spent reading a book on temuera morrison at work ( ihave respect for him now and wish him well- he plays ab sumthin in the new green lantern movie which also stars ryan reynolds (yay) like him, the love interest will be blake lively- liked scarlett but i guess being in the same movie kills most couples careers , madonna etc) and the the morning before work was spent editing said fight.
Today is spent edditing running and phone conv, then work later, hope to finish Tem's book other than that, thank you for reading...its been a pleasure sharing with you

Friday March 19th 2010 -Running and stick figures
Ready to sleep. My leg has me walking like a pirate. Shot ALOT of random running scenes today for the film, so much i ran off my limp, only for it to return when i tried to act out my fight choreography i was drawing up at work.
so between serving customers, drawing violent unhappy stick figures, shooting random running pieces and a gruelling workout montage which was interrupted by council workers wanting to clean up the basket ball court where i was shooting (of all the places they could have chosen in the city) it has been an alright day.
Plus i have learnt my wife is fearless as she let me jump over her for a shot. I know, im a dick. but you cant wear the husband hat if the director hat is the one you have on, and you will all see foryourselves what an awesome shot it makes in the film. she knows i love her. ;)
til tommorrow ta kete

Thursday 18th March 2010 Part Two
we just got thrashed 23-1. no words can really capture the devastion i feel. sooo unfit, see why i want to get back into training? will do after this film finished...and buy some decent shoes so can feel comfortable. soo tired at end felt like dying - good reference material when comes to my next acting gig. Oh well, next week will play in mixed grade since we have 2 girls on team, which means that play other girls, i think it complicates the dynamics of 5 on 5 but we will see how it all unfolds.
Anyway will nurse this wound from slide tackling one too many times on artifical grass and wake up with a robot leg, stiff and needing oil. Shooting training scenes tomorrow and my characters run in with an obsessed fan, see if u catch me limp.
hint- you wont, action stars dont get hurt, we dont have bad sides :)

Thursday 18th March 2010 Part One
My neck is killing me, somebody call the police! jokes, if that were happening you'd have the neighbour hood out with cameras to put it on their youtube sites. jokes aside my neck IS killing me, maybe from cocking it to the side all the time trying to figure out how half my city got their damn licenses. Does no one indicate anymore?
Anyway watched some more of 'Outrageous Fortune' this morning, borrowing it from work (free of course) but damn this is a good show for a new zealand work, the acting is great, well cast and the stories are entertaining as hell, am soo thankful someone can replace my sopranos longing, the hole in my heart from watching the last episode never really quite healed. There's something about watching a family and their dramas that makes all those little problems in your life go away, if even just for that hour. love it.
Forgot to say finished reading Bruce campbells 'If chins could kill' book a couple days ago at work, hoping i can become A list but being as famous as him wouldnt be so bad...what am i saying? no! aim for the moon and if i fail i will still fall somewhere with the stars....speaking of which, shot the phone scenes today with one of my buddies i used work with. CLASS act. Was a lot of fun, showed me some flykicks and boxing combos he got off being a Tyson fan and now i am thinking he will make a great bad guy for the next flick.
Also shot my scenes as a british director, however the scene came off with a little more Ali G flavour then i anticipated but you guys can judge when the film is finished, all i can say is you know you have problems when you are shooting a scene by yourself in a room and still yell CUT like you dont know what you are thinking.
This what happens when you freeze your pepsi max and have to resort to drinking water. 3 cheers for late night logic :)

Wednesday 17th March 2010 - Slow
When parking on the 2nd floor of westfields for some establishing shots for my short film credibility i discovered how empty the second floor is during a non-rush hour, weekday. Made a mental note to stage a fight here at some point. Having footage still rolling when the security guards discover us on their rounds overevving their mall golfcart will be an added bonus for the viewers and get extra views for me. i know,i know but the truth is gimmicks sell.
Also went shopping for a beard. yes, i know its unusual but i want to play a director at some point in my film and along with the glasses i thought that having a beard would distinguish this guy from the character i play already. however, no beards were for sale, and i walk away somewhat disappointed from my simple mission.
Was to attempt jumping over rubbish bins and shoot other interesting training scenes for the film today but it was raining outside and i am not as fearless as my character. I, a mere mortal, am still ,unfortunately, able to catch the flu. :( <--yes, it is a sad face, unlike other action stars i can still pull one.
[Inspired from reading todays blog? rent Mallcop or Observe and Report (for reference of what i mean by golfcart mallmodified) have fun]
